About Us

Background
We are a family run cabinet making business. We are situated on our farm near Bala in a rural part of northern Wales. Our family have been making furniture in this part of the world for many generations.

Dilwyn Jones, the owner of the company, can trace his roots back to the 'Seiri Cochion', translated as the 'Red-haired Carpenters', who were well known cabinet makers in this area in the 19th century.

Styles
Our work is mostly based on 17th and 18th century hand made furniture in prime oak. We also produce furniture in styles from later periods such as Victorian, Edwardian up to modern day.

Hand made to order
We pride ourselves on planning and producing extremely high quality work, which follow the exact requirements of the customer. Because our furniture is mostly bespoke, the customer has the freedom to choose design, dimensions, distressing and colour, which can be matched to any existing furniture.

Quality
Quality is assured because of our dedication to the highest standard of work and attention to detail. Our traditional period framed construction is of solid oak throughout. Pegged mortice and tenon joints are used and drawers are dovetailed back and front - built to last for many generations to come.

The oak is acquired from reputable sawmills, which specialise in wood for cabinetmakers and joiners and use timber from sustainable woodlands. We inspect each tree to ensure its quality and origin and matching grain. We also mill our own timber from very local sources. This timber is seasoned for many years before it is ready for use in our furniture.

Finish
We finish our furniture using traditional methods which are sadly used less and less nowadays because the easy option is spray finishing. We stain and polish our furniture to meet customer requirements. All our stains and polishes are individually hand mixed to achieve the desired colour and finish.
